NXT Takeover New Orleans review

So I decided to watch both of these shows over the weekend. I used to be big into wrestling but I kinda lost my love for it over the years. Due to it being imo boring, predictable and repetitive. I miss the days of the Attitude Era, The Monday Night Wars between WCW & WWE with ECW in the shadows and the 80’s wrestling. Those were the days. But there’s good now and then in the current wrestling, like NXT Takeovers & NJPW. But it’s mostly dull, repetitive, cheesy in the worst way and it’s so predictable cause u seen it all before. So I don’t watch it much but I watch the big events if I can.

First show I watched of the two is the NXT Takeover so I’ll start with that.

A 6 man ladder match to crown the first NXT North American Champion between Adam Cole, EC3, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, Ricochet and Velveteen Dream

So this is the first match of the NXT Takeover card. I was quite surprised that this is the first match of the night, usually you see this in the co main event or something. Still it was a superb match to kick off the show. I enjoy Adam Cole’s work before he was in NXT when he was in ROH (Ring Of Honor) & New Japan. He always had the all around talent to be big draw imo. He just impresses me the more I see him. EC3 was good too, bit surreal seeing him in WWE. He was a TNA Guy for a while and also Ricochet is amazing. The dude is superb with the high flying moves, does it to perfection. Especially one move in the match where he moonsaults onto Dain & Lars while getting push off the ladder. It’s so cool, love that spot. Also Velveteen Dream is awesome too. He had great spots and moments in the match like the elbow to Lars off the top of the ladder, that was superb. Lars was not bad in the match too. He was two of the big men in the match and  Dain is great too. A lot of big bumps, back and forth exchanges and it’s non stop throughout.

It was a solid match, Adam Cole wins the belt and it’s not the last u see of him that night as he’s in the triple tag match later. Great match, I would prefer this to be in the co main but it was a great opener nonetheless. 4/5

Ember Moon (C) vs Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship

Yeah this is a good match as well. Pretty technical and a lot of good exchanges between the two girls. They been feuding for a while and it’s not bad. I do think Ember is good in ring but her personality is dull. She needs a change in character imo, get used to me saying that btw. Cause a lot of them do need to show personality. Give me something to care about you know what I mean.

Shayna is a pretty badarse heel imo. She has zero fucks and I like that in a heel. She’s really good. She wins the match and the belt. Think it’s a good choice, Shayna has been looking great in NXT. Such a badarse heel imo. They need that. Good match. 3/5

3 Tag Match for the tag belts and the Dusty Rhodes Classic trophy between The Undisputed Era (C) (Kyle O’Reilly & Adam Cole), Roderick Strong/Pete Dunne and The Authors Of Pain

Yeah this was short decent match. Not much to say about the match in general. But the ending was good though. With Roderick turning his back on Dunne & cost them the match and Roderick is now in The Undisputed Era with Adam Cole, O’Reilly and Bobby Fish (who was injured). That’ll be interesting.

And yeah not much to say other than that. It’s an ok match but a good angle to end the match. 3/5

NXT Championship match between Andrade “Cien” Almas (C) with Zelina Vaga vs Aleister Black

This was a lot of better. Very good match between two awesome talents. I dig Aleister’s style, his entrance is cool and his in ring style is superb. Great mixture of strong style & a bit of high flying. Almas is great too, he has really improved a lot since I saw him debut. Such a better preformer now and the addition of Vaga as his manager helps too. Big improvement from Almas.

And this was back and forth match. Very enjoyable. I liked it a lot. Even though the number of interferences from Vaga got annoying to me. It’s a nippick but I don’t like run ins personally. But it’s still a great match from two top dudes. Top notch! 4/5

Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa Unsanctioned no DQ match

Well this is a year in the making. After they lost to Authors Of Pain at last year’s NXT Takeover. Ciampa turn his back on his tag partner Gargano and Ciampa got injured in that same night so this feud was delayed. Til Early this year when he came back and attack Johnny again. And also cost him to lose to Almas with his career on the line. So yeah this is personal shit as they say lol. So if Johnny wins this unsanctioned match, he’s back in NXT. Hope I explain the feud well, I’m not best story teller lol. If so comment below.

Anyway to the match. Imo best match of the whole Wrestlemania weekend. It was awesome. Loved it. It was a fight. Not a performance or a high flying dive fest u see a lot these days. They’re dives in this match but not that many. It was a brawl, a fight between two dudes who hate each other. And that’s exactly what I want in a feud ending match like this. Just beat the shit out of each other. The match had everything. Great selling, chemistry, great brawls, great storytelling, top level heel work from Ciampa, great face work from Johnny and all that good stuff that made me a wrestling fan. These two understand wrestling and they both nailed it in this match.

It’s one of my favourite matches of the year so far along with Johnny’s match with Almas in January’s NXT Takeover. It was awesome all around. I wish there was blood though, again it’s a nippick. There was blood in the Lesnar/Reigns match (more of that in the WM review) why can’t this match? I don’t know, it just annoys me this fucking PG Era, ugh lol. Anyway it didn’t effect this awesome match at all. If there’s one match to watch from the past weekend. Make it this. 5/5

Final verdict...4/5

It was a very good show as usual. It’s come to be expected with this NXT Takeover shows. They deliver the goods. While the main WWE roster barely. It’s a odd set up but that’s WWE lol. It was a good show. Ladder match, the NXT championship match and of course the Unsanctioned match were my favourites of the show. Rest were good too but it had flaws in places. But their good nonetheless. Definitely check out NXT and it’s Takeover shows on WWE Network. It’s worth getting the Network for NXT alone tbh. It’s great!

So that’s my NXT Takeover New Orleans review done, thank you for reading if you have. What do yous think about it? Let me know down in the comments below. With that, this is me signing off. Stay tuned for my Wrestlemania 34 review later this week or sooner than that. Watch this space.

Anyway thanks very much for reading this, liking and commenting. Yous are the best. Take care, much love Mofos! 😎🤘🏻

Broken Interest : Why I Don't Love Wrestling Currently

This is basically my opinion and my thoughts. Take it as a pinch of salt. If you like current pro wrestling, go for you. More power to you. Didn't say you're a bad person or anything. Just remember this is my thoughts and opinions on it. So take it as a pinch of salt cause I have to get this off my chest.

Anyway here we go

I've been a fan of wrestling since I was a kid. Back in the 90's. Think I first seen old WWF VHS tapes that my older cousin have and I was addicted to it. Love the action, the cheesiest of it, the over the top acting and how it was a comic book coming to life. It was superb. Then the Attitude Era happened and it was even better. It was the best years to be a wrestling fan. Great storylines, hardcore action, babes, blood, etc. It was edgy and mature. Fucking loved it. It made a lot of wrestlers into superstars that are still talked about, loved and still going today. The Rock is the biggest star in movies currently, that's how well done the Attitude Era was. And it wasn't WWE, ECW had a cult following and influenced the Attitude Era. WCW from 96 to 99 was great before it's abysmal downfall from 99 to it's death in 2001. I think when it was started to become the not as good as it used to be agruement was the awful Invasion angle. It was poor. It only took a independent promotions ROH & CZW to do a great one years later. With ROH took on CZW. That was awesome. Which I highly recommend checking out on a Invasion angle done right. But WWE's one was poor. A lot of people got buried and it was a glorified McMahon vs McMahon feud again. Because people want more of that, answer no. So it failed and cost a lot of fans to bail out. I was more of a WWE fan so it didn't bother me at the time. As time went on, it eventually did. Cause WCW was good at one time. And it got shit on. Eventually it was the same with ECW with WWECW. WWE's version of ECW. It was shite. By that time Ruthless Argression era was hit and miss. But 2006 happen, Eddie Guerrero passed away. Who was one of my favourite wrestlers ever and they done angle in his name that offended and make me sick. It was bad. And the Chris Benoit tragedy happened. WWECW was the final nail to the coffin. I stopped watching wrestling from 2008 til late 2014. A lot changed. It's back to it's family friendly ways from the 80's. Only without the corniness and the over the topness. I thought it was boring and didn't get it. Until I saw NXT and it was great. Superb wrestling, newer stars and a more un WWE feel to it. It felt fresh and I was for it.

So yeah I was on boat with the current wrestling. 2015 was a year it restored my love for it. The British Wrestling scene is on fire, NXT had so much great stuff in it and Japanese wrestling was superb......at first. Yeah it was good at first cause the matches are better than ever. I stick with it for a good while until it hit me. I've seen this before. But done better. ROH and TNA in the mid and late 2000's. It was done better then by those companies. Before it was hit wae the same old curse. I'm all for the same old if it had it's own edge to it. But nobody is doing it.

And that's the problem with WWE. It's the same old, only without substance. And it's too much of WWE programming. More than ever. Thanks to the WWE Network. Their ppvs are samey. Their hardcore matches don't feel special since it took away the blood and pure violence of it. It feels weak. The kick arse matches that I loved back in the ROH/TNA days of the mid 2000's don't feel special and lost it's appeal. It's the same old and theirs too much of it. Not just WWE. TNA, ROH, NJPW, ICW, WCPW, etc feel like the same thing. Done before but done better cause it was fresh back then. Pro wrestling is like a piece of fruit. It starts off fresh but the longer it stays in the same place. It goes bad. That's for me pro wrestling in the nutshell.

I mean it's got to the point that I hate everything about it. Royal Rumble was the last straw. I enjoyed the Styles vs Cena match. But the Rumble match happened. And everything that is wrong in Wrestling is in that match alone. It was boring, their relaying on older stars over the newer guys, no new guys get the push, they blew a great opportunity (Samoa Joe should've been number 30), comedy that isn't funny, part timers, same old shit and nobody looked good. The whole match sucked balls and wrestling is and has gotten a lot of that.

I'm trying to do a Badarse Awards on the wrestling but I couldn't write about it. Their's nothing I can write about it cause I got nothing interesting to write about. Same with reviewing current ppvs. I got nothing. It was bored me so much that I don't bother. Especially I write for free. I write blogs whenever I feel like and writing this is basically to get this off my chest.

I was following WCPW, not anymore cause it's the same. I stopped subscribing to WWE Network cause I don't want to pay WWE for stuff anymore. I'm boycotting them. Vote with your wallet u know. I also stopped watching YouTube channels like Wrestling With Wregret and WhatCulture cause I don't like their opinions and how they basically present it. Quite biased and full of themselves if you ask me. So I stopped.

Also I can't wrestling fans in general. All they do is troll. Chant the same old. Yeah even wrestling fans are same old. And it's just annoying hearing THIS IS AWESOME, YOU DESERVE IT, etc all the time. When it's NOT. Too easily pleased, to something that is not awesome. It's repetitive and dull. I rather have the 2000 WCW. I rather have the Ruthless Argression era. I rather have the Invasion angle. Than the wrestling we got now. Their's no characters anymore. Everyone is the same or doing something that was awesome years ago. Like The Bullet Club for example. NWO/DX much? New Day, Too Cool much? Wyatt Family, Minstery Darkness much? You see I've seen it before but back then it was fresh and had substance. No one is original. Every guy in wrestling is a mark for themselves. Their social media is full of it. Full of themselves. Imo it's just a put off. If they want to do unfunny bullshit, by all means. Do what you want current wrestlers, it's your career. I don't care. Continuing doing "art". Cause it's "art" that other wrestlers done before but done better.

Yeah I'm back to stop watching wrestling. I still watch old school wrestling and I'm not going to leave. Hell even the wrestling video games sucked compared to older wrestling games like No Mercy, Day Of Reckoning, Smackdown, Smackdown vs Raw and the WCW games. Remember those? How awesome was those games.

WTF happened wrestling? You used to be the best thing on the planet. Now your the butthole of jokes and other people going "really people still watch that fake gay shit?" yeah that bad. Back in the good times, it was cool to be a wrestling fan. Now people go "you watch that stupid shit?" u know. It's bad. And I may never go back. I'm done with it. Burned out and I'm moving on. I'm getting to my 30's and I'm just too mature for that nonsense.

So yeah that's why I don't like current wrestling. Will I watch it again? Once Vince McMahon goes properly. But I'm more of a video gamer, a cook, an uncle of three, movie lover and a comic book nerd. I don't do wrestling stuff now. I've moved on to better things and I'm fine with that. Cause I still love retro wrestling. I watch it to this day still. I still watch NJPW if I can cause I do like it still, ROH too. I'm still opening minded to other promotions. Hell I may watch TNA again if it's still around. But for WWE I'm through with that lot. No more.

So hope you enjoy that. Just remember it's my thoughts. I'll do review of old wrestling cards on these blogs whenever I feel like it. Cause I'm a retro wrestling fan. So do stick around. Also I do like to hear your thoughts on current wrestling. Yay or Nay? Comment below.

Anyway thank you so much for reading this blog. I appreciate it. And see you in the next one. Take care

Hopefully I don't get death threats from WhatCulture lol. Like I care. Pussies lol!
